Tiger Woods certainly did talk an outstanding game in the media conference regarding appearing a lot more respectful to golf, nevertheless his decisions spoke a lot louder than his words the moment he missed the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Woods would have generated a huge amount of good will through participating in this tournament. Arnie would likely have succesfully done nearly anything which he could have for helping show Tiger in the best light, yet on the other hand Tiger chooses to write off the legends in the sport to do his own thing. Best of luck on the Masters, Mister Woods. Congratulations towards Ernie Els, plus I am hoping you also do well at Augusta.

The really bad thing here is to make this incident public. We have no idea how his relationship was. I agree if someone makes a commitment and promise something he/she better keep it.
Human achivement like big buildings, internet, cars, space travels, etc. depend more on trust than in “Pussy Power”. If someone cheats you and you discover it then you lose trust with this person. Still what happened with Tiger Woods is something that only affects him and his family he and his family should decide how to solve this problem.
By making this public they just screw more the private life of Tiger Woods and his family members. The big cryme here is to distract us from real problems that affect lots and lots of people. While some bunch o very rich people want to continue making more millions by making wars, emmiting tons CO2 and other poison things to the atmosphere, fire lots of employees, etc. We let ourselves to be distracted by a story that is not of our business.

If I follow your logic, then every single man out there who shoots the guy his wife/girlfriend is sleeping with should be given a free pass as well, as he’s only following his ‘biological imperative’. Hell, I should kill any guy that comes near my woman, as I’m following my ‘biological imperative’ as well.

As a guy, sure we have our urges. But what makes a real MAN is the guy who rises above his animal needs.

A real man honours his word. He gives the oath to screw only one woman for the rest of his life, then he does it. If he doesn’t give that promise, no problem and more power to him. A guy that doesn’t lack the commitment or guts to keep his promise, well, I’d call him a untrustworthy liar rather than a High Status Male. Unless you’d equate them both as one and the same?

If you want to be a playboy, its ok. I dont think society has anything against that, provided you are straight up about it (i.e. russell brand comes to mind, who’s putting his wild days behind him and settling down with Katy Perry) But if you get married, you’ve got no excuse for having affairs.

The biological imperative argument isnt valid. You cant just run around mad as a march hare obeying every natural instict you have! jeez, Theres many i time where my biology has told me to smack my boss really hard in the face, but I dont as its irresponsible and selfish. Also I dont think that that would stand up in court as a valid excuse. “it was my insticts, your honour”. Dont think so!

If you wanna be with loads of different women, ok, but dont get married and have kids. You cant do both

Mike, normally I think your commentary is right on but you really bombed with this one. As many have already noted, Tiger’s offense was his betrayal of his wife and children, his hypocrisy of leading a double life. We’ve seen a lot of this over the years, i.e. the many slimey politicians and bloated evangelists who feigned righteousness while leading a secret life of debauchery. Ted Haggard and Jimmy Swaggart come to mind. Were these really high status males? If so, I’ll glady keep my low status. The women in my life have always cherished me for my honesty, my respectfulness, my sensitivity and yes, my passion, not for how many I’ve “scored”. I’ll take a deep, loving relationship with a small handful of intelligent, big-hearted women over a shallow relationship with tons of brainless women that I can’t have a thoughtful conversation with any day.

The problem is not his high status, but the fact he got MARRIED while shaking his booty on the sly.

If one’s straight up about being a playboy, any woman who wishes to marry him at least knows what she’s getting into… and may even be into it herself.

Some valuable thoughts in here but one glaring omission. Yes, Tiger has all the right to be the HSM he deserves to be but via marriage he COMMITTED to giving it all up. You can’t be a HSM on one side and have a wife and family on the other side who did not agree to that arrangement. If you want to be HSM, then by all means, but don’t mislead a women that you won’t be doing that.

He is being criticized more for being a LIAR than being a lothario.

There are many lotharios out there that don’t get slammed like this (old-school Warren Beatty comes to mind and Hefner over the years has been celebrated for his lifestyle).

Not to mention, I think there is also something here about Tiger being a HSM but hooking with some really trashy (and frankly unattractive women). If you are gonna be a HSM, at least snag a few good ones (models, actresses, singers, etc) along the way. So ultimately he wasn’t being a lothario, he was being a lying and cheating scoundrel on the side trying to get away with as much as he could with some non-famous people.

Had he remained single and simply went out with 20 women a year for the next 50 years, he would not be criticized en masse. But when you tell a women “hey baby I love you and you’re the only one” and you’re screwing the waitress at Bob Evans down the street and she is raising the children, sorry pal you have character issues and deserve to be criticized for your fraudulent actions.

You are right, pussy power drives much of the world but it is not everything. There are many pleasures and comforts in life, not just women, and men will seek to improve their position in order to gain greater access to these comforts.

Wow, what you are saying is total BS. I know that you are in the business of selling advice to LSM’s, but, come on. There is a difference between single PU’s going out and getting as much tail as possible, and a married man, who took an oath before God, being unfaithful. It is absolutely within society’s right to think ill of Tiger. His actions do not represent the kind of behavior I would want my son to idolize. While it may be our biological imperative to screw as much as possible, it is also our sociological imperative to be good parents, something some a-hole who is out cheating can’t do. Tell me,if your father was unfaithful to your mother, would you respect your him for all the pain and emotional distress his unfaithfulness would have inflicted on your upbringing? My Dad actually did cheat on my Mom, and let me tell you, it made our lives a living Hell. Yes, part of being a man is spreading the genetic seed around. But it is also being a responsible husband and adult. Given the fact that our genetic imperative is to generate as much offspring, as you put it, I’d say he failed in that none of his adulterous couplings even resulted in live births. Breaking it down into biological imperatives is a two way street: while we may be programed to make sure that we reproduce as much as possible, we are also responsible for making sure that our offspring are raised to adulthood. If you look at primates, you see that is what happens. Yeah, they screw alot, but they also stick around to defend their babies and females form other males. We aren’t bigger than women simple to turn them on; we are also there to protect them, something I bet you aren’t used to caring enough about them to even bother with.

Putting it into biological perspective is dumb anyway; we are thinking beings. Social and religious impacts aren’t simply there to be side stepped by selfish, immature boys who don’t understand that there can be too much of a good thing. I’m not about to go all biblical on you, but really man, adultery is a sin for a reason. It does nothing but harm to the the family unit and society in general. How many of those HBs do you really think appreciate all the PU’s who have used and dumped them over the years? I’ve been getting your emails for a while, and while I think that a lot of your advice is good to guys like myself who would like to date more often, I also think that you idolize and value sleeping with women so much that you lose sight of the fact that they are people too, and not merely objects for you and other men to consume. That is something pimps do. Having healthy self respect, and an ability to make women feel good and happy are valuable endeavors, but I think that you really need to reevaluate your motivations for doing so. Actually, considering the fact that he is practically a billionaire, 14 booty calls over the 5 years of his marriage isn’t that many.
